We start this presentation by making resurrection rolls with marshmallows and croissant bread. We also make some cute bag puppets to help tell the story.
Cleopas and the other disciple were wondering about the events of Jesus’ death. Jesus came and explained the prophecies in scripture and how they were fulfilled in His life, death, and resurrection. We don’t know really what Jesus said, but we do know the prophecies that were fulfilled, so this lesson focuses on those prophesies as they looked back on Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection. Jesus gave proof after proof that He was the Messiah and that He was Alive!

Preparation: Need air dry clay and small condiment containers with lids for craft.
Memory Verses: Matthew 28:6 “…He is risen, as He said…” and John 11:25 “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.”
Jesus chose to come and take our punishment. The wages of sin is death. So Jesus died for us. It was His love for us, that held him to that cross. His death demonstrates how much He loves each one of us! In this presentation we focus on how Jesus thought of others throughout this hard day. He forgave the soldiers nailing him to the cross. He comforted John and His mom. He assured the thief who came to believe in Him that he too would have eternal life and be in heaven. We also see others who believed and helped Jesus: Simon, the Cyrene, the centurion soldier, Joseph of Arimathea, and Nicodemus.
In this lesson, we reiterate the verse, “Watch and pray that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak.” Matthew 26:41. Oh how weak we are in times of difficulty! Yet Jesus is strong! He is faithful!
This lesson includes one or more of the Savior Souvenirs — silver coins, a sword, a piece of leather like a whip, or a thorn (or a rose bush or olive tree) to represent the crown of thorns.
Before Jesus prayed in Gethsemane, He took time to prepare His disciples for what was about to happen. He assured them of His love and that they Holy Spirit would come to comfort and guide them. He told them He would prepare a place for them and come back to take them to be with Him. He also prayed for them and for all future believers – that includes us! In Gethsemane, Jesus prayed for God’s will to be done, and for strength. The object lesson in about doing God’s will. The craft is a special one. We made praying hand cast molds and then I finished them during the week.
