Jesus is Alive! Believe it!

John 20 — Jesus visits Mary, the disciples, and Thomas

Illustration depicting Jesus with his disciples, highlighting the message 'Jesus is Alive!' from John 20.

This presentation is based on John 20. It highlights Mary Magdalene seeing Jesus at the tomb and Jesus visiting the disciples again while Thomas is there. We are encouraged to believe it — Jesus is alive! He gave his witnesses proof. They believed and we can too! We start this presentation by making resurrection rolls with marshmallows and croissant bread. We also make some cute bag puppets to help tell the story.

Jesus Anointed

John 12

Left page features an artistic depiction of Mary anointing Jesus with perfume, accompanied by biblical quotes from John and Matthew.

We can choose, like Mary, to honor God and share our love for Him. Sharing our love for Jesus is like a sweet smell wafting through the air.

Preparation: Have some little containers like the old negative canisters or spice bottles with paper wrapped around them to hide what is inside. Inside place different smelly objects like orange peels, cut garlic cloves, a cotton ball with vanilla on it, etc. Take into consideration your children’s allergies.

This lesson includes one of the Savior Souvenirs — a small perfume bottle. I found small bottles at the Dollar Tree. I put some glitter glue (with perfume mixed in) in them to represent the perfume.

Jesus Anointed With Perfume and Tears

Luke 7:44-50

An illustrated scene depicting a biblical story featuring a woman washing Jesus' feet, with characters seated around her. The right side contains text from two Bible verses and playful graphics related to spreading kindness and knowledge.

How is perfume made? Take the smell challenge; What is that smell? Why was Jesus anointed? How can we be like sweet smelling perfume? These questions and more are answered in this presentation. Kids enjoy using their senses of smell and making something sweet smelling to give to someone as they share God’s love.

A Wedding and Water to Wine

This presentation happens at a wedding. Maybe you want to set the tone and decorate the room like a wedding celebration. The kids will have an opportunity to make fresh grape juice. However, Jesus didn’t do it that way. How Jesus met the need was his first miracle. We celebrate with great joy! This story, water to wine, foreshadows Jesus’ life and death, which he willingly did for us. The craft comes from Danielle’s Place.

John the Baptist’s Birth

Luke 1

In this presentation we have fun setting the setting with candles, bread, and incense. Then the children have an opportunity to participate by acting out the story and saying the words in the conversation bubbles. Zechariah learns that he and Elizabeth will have a son. John will prepare people for Jesus’ coming. This year we did this story at Thanksgiving and we focused on prayer and praise.

PRAISE God, You are Chosen

— Mary visits Elizabeth, John is born, Angel visits Joseph — Luke 1 and Matthew 1

Zechariah and Elizabeth were chosen, in their old age to be the parents of John who would prepare the way of the Lord. When he can speak again, Zechariah bursts into song, praising God. Mary and Joseph were chosen to parent Jesus, God’s Son. Mary, too, praises God in song. We too are chosen and blessed. God has chosen to adopt us as His children. We are blessed because we believe in God and in Jesus! Let’s sing and praise His name.
