Gethsemane: Jesus Prepares His Disciples and Prays

A biblical scene depicting a man in prayer with his hands raised towards the sky, surrounded by trees and a serene night sky.

Before Jesus prayed in Gethsemane, He took time to prepare His disciples for what was about to happen. He assured them of His love and that they Holy Spirit would come to comfort and guide them. He told them He would prepare a place for them and come back to take them to be with Him. He also prayed for them and for all future believers – that includes us! In Gethsemane, Jesus prayed for God’s will to be done, and for strength. The object lesson in about doing God’s will. The craft is a special one. We made praying hand cast molds and then I finished them during the week.

I will Go and Prepare a Place for You

This is a blessed promise of a covenant usually from bride groom to his bride. Jesus calls his church his bride.

The Lord’s Supper

A digital image showing two panels. The left panel features a depiction of Jesus at a table with twelve followers, highlighting a scene from Matthew 26 about faith and betrayal. The right panel presents Jesus speaking to his followers, with a message emphasizing faithfulness, referencing Zechariah 13:7.

This presentation shows the Lord’s Supper and acknowledges the weakness in Judas and Peter. We will follow their stories along with Jesus’ Faithfulness in the next few presentations. We see how much Jesus loves us. He is our strength. He is Faithful!

Companion Presentation — Jesus Celebrates the Passover

This lesson includes one or more of the Savior Souvenirs — a communion cup, a ‘cracker’ made of air dry clay, a ‘water basin’ which simply is a plastic lid like from a milk jug, or a towel which simply is a portion of a cut up cheap wash cloth.

The lesson is one of the many stories of Jesus’ last week before his death, resurrection, and the weeks that followed. You can find a list of the other lessons here along with their links.

Jesus Anointed

John 12

Left page features an artistic depiction of Mary anointing Jesus with perfume, accompanied by biblical quotes from John and Matthew.

We can choose, like Mary, to honor God and share our love for Him. Sharing our love for Jesus is like a sweet smell wafting through the air.

Preparation: Have some little containers like the old negative canisters or spice bottles with paper wrapped around them to hide what is inside. Inside place different smelly objects like orange peels, cut garlic cloves, a cotton ball with vanilla on it, etc. Take into consideration your children’s allergies.

This lesson includes one of the Savior Souvenirs — a small perfume bottle. I found small bottles at the Dollar Tree. I put some glitter glue (with perfume mixed in) in them to represent the perfume.
