Here you'll find an array of activities for elementary children that can be used in Children's Ministry, after-school programs, in the classroom and by homeschoolers.
We often think of Moses leading the Israelites from Egypt to Canaan. In fact, the Bible is very clear that God was leading them. The Israelites saw this by God’s special cloud stopped when it was time to camp and moved forward when it was time to go. It was shade during the hot days and a pillar of fire during the cold, very dark nights.
You would think with all the evidence of God’s power and sovereignty in Egypt and such an ever-present sign of God’s leading that they would completely trust in God and have no fear or worries. But that just isn’t usually true of us humans. Let’s put FAITH over fear.
God gave the Israelites yet another reason to trust Him. This is what God does. He presents us with opportunities of fear or faith. He led them to a place where they could not run away. They were hemmed in by cliffs on the side, a canyon behind them with the Egyptian army bearing down on them, and in front was the impassable Red Sea. When life looks impossible and impassable, that is where God want to show us His power. With Him all things are possible.
Interactive PowerPoint Presentation
In this presentation, the kids will get to make a craft and act out the story of the dramatic escape through the Red Sea. The Israelite’s were in a pickle; a God-designed pickle. How would they escape the Egyptians when they were stuck between mountains and the gigantic Red Sea? When we are in a pickle, we too can be calm, pray, and know that God will make a way. He will fight for us. He will lead us. He will always be with us!
Moses and the Israelites, after 3 months of travel from Egypt, finally arrive at Mt. Horeb, which we know as Mt Sinai. Along the way, they have seen God’s many wonders demonstrating that He is the One true God, the Sovereign Creator and King over all things. They have experienced His sustaining care and have received water, food from heaven, shade from His cloud during the day, warmth and light from His cloud at night, and a Providential win against their enemies. Now they are ready to join in a kingdom covenant with God.
I wondered, “What is the true meaning of a covenant?” I found it interesting that, unlike an agreement or contract, a covenant is enduring, signed by blood — it’s forever, even if one of the parties neglects to keep their end of the deal. Wow! This is significant because God made the Israelites a special kingdom, a holy nation. However, they did not keep the Commandments given by God as a part of the covenant.
Jesus stepped in to keep the covenant. He perfectly kept the law and all that God wanted Him to do. He showed His love, humbleness, and obedience by dying for us on the cross. His death and resurrection not only fulfilled the old covenant, it opened up a new covenant that is available to all who believe in Jesus as their Savior. We are God’s children and part of His eternal kingdom. We show our love to Him by keeping His commandments with His help.
Interactive PowerPoint Presentation — A Covenant and 10 Commandments
This presentation is dramatic with trumpets and thunder. It includes videos that tell about the covenant and song. I hope you can use it in your children’s ministry.
The Israelites spent more than a year at Mt. Sinai. God made a covenant with them and gave them the Ten Commandments. He spoke with Moses and gave many other life saving guidelines and the instructions and blueprints for the Tabernacle. They stayed and constructed this beautiful example of God’s plan of salvation.
Starting with this page, instead of having all the program descriptions and downloads on this page, I’m going to have each one as a separate post. Hopefully this will make it easier to find them. This page will function as an informative middle page with all the links for the category of Bible stories, which, in this case are the stories that take place at Mt. Horeb.
So click on the title to go to the page where you can learn more about the PowerPoint, download the PowerPoint and download any craft or activity pages.
Moses was God’s chosen agent to free His People the Israelites. God kept His promises to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph by bringing their descendants back to the Promised Land.
We have the promise that Jesus is preparing a place for us and will come and get us to be with Him. Praise God! He will keep that promise too! Just like He kept the promise that Jesus, our Savior, would come to earth to show God’s love and save us from sin. We can believe that God’s Word is true. God is faithful and He will do it.
The life of Moses and the Israelite journey has many parallels of these other promises, too. Join us in learning and teaching these stories to the next generation.
A coat of many colors and so much more! Joseph remained faithful to God in good times and bad — when his brothers were mean and when his dad treated him special; when he was a slave and when he was in charge; when he was in prison and when he was 2nd to Pharaoh. Joseph was quick to forgive, faithfully believed in God, and worked diligently.
This slide show tells the story of Joseph in a nutshell. Spice it up by giving the kids bread or crackers in a colorful napkin to remind them of Joseph’s robe and how he served others. Look for the many ways grain is mentioned in the story. Who did Joseph serve? We can serve our family, church, and everyone around us.
Joseph’s Coat of Many Colors and Trouble with Brothers — Genesis 37
This PowerPoint presentation gives you pictures, crafts, and songs to tell the story found in Genesis 37 about Joseph’s special coat of many colors, his dreams and the trouble they caused. His jealous brothers threw Joseph into a pit and then sold him to some Ishmaelite Midianites to be taken to Egypt and sold into slavery. How sad! But God had given him the dreams for a reason. They were tokens of hope. When life gives us lemons, God can make lemonade. He can turn bad news into good.
Joseph Ups and Downs with Potiphar and Prison — Genesis 39 & 40
Potiphar, Captain of the Guard, bought Joseph in Egypt. Because of his success, Potiphar promited him. But then Potiphar’s wife falsely accused him and Joseph ended up in prison. One day the Pharaoh’s cup bearer and baker, who had been thrown in prison, had dreams. Joseph, with God’s insight, accurately told them the meaning of the dreams. Through his many trials, Joseph continued to be faithful. He must have had an attitude of gratitude. In this presentation we use Joseph as an example of 2 Thessalonians 5:18. Be Thankful in all circumstances. Sometimes what feels like a really tough time, is God training us for something really important. When we look for things to be thankful for we are giving ourselves the gift of a positive attitude. Then we are better able to share God’s love and be faithful to Him. The craft is an abacus, which we use to count our many blessings.
The wise man can’t interpret Pharaoh’s dreams of fat & skinny cows and fat & skinny wheat, but God enables Joseph to do so. Joseph also gives a great plan on how to survive the 7 years of famine after the 7 years of plenty. Pharaoh is delighted with Joseph and his plan and promotes him on the spot. We did this presentation at Thanksgiving time. So one of the activities is to make a pyramid of things we are thankful for (written on Duplos). There also is an I Spy game and the cornbread in a jar activity pictured above. You’ll probably have to pick just a couple of these activities due to time.
This presentation covers the many conversations Joseph had with his brothers as he tested them to see if they had changed from his boyhood days. They proved they had! Joseph gave them grain and proved that he had forgiven them. Forgiving others give peace and health.
Famine, Family, Forgiveness AND Reunited in Egypt — Genesis 42-50
This presentation includes a video covering Joseph’s brothers coming to Egypt, the tests, and Joseph revealing that he indeed was Joseph. The main theme is forgiveness. Fun activities include making an Egyptian collar, doing a maze, taking part in the conversations, and wrapping up a volunteer as a mummy.
Adam and Eve Make a Very Bad Choice — The first Sin — Genesis 3
How are we tempted? This story of Adam and Eve, who were perfect people living in the perfect place were tempted and fell. How do we resist temptation? The book of James gives us some really good principles of resisting temptation and staying close to God. In this presentation, we explore these big ideas.
It did not take long for the affect of sin to be manifested in people’s lives. Cain chose not to offer a sacrifice which God desired. Maybe it was his heart that made it not pleasing. (2 Corinthians 9:7) Maybe it was the sacrifice itself that wasn’t as required. (Leviticus 3). Whatever the case, jealousy and anger followed. We’ll discuss how to control our anger.
The Bible doesn’t tell us too much about Enoch and Methuselah, but we do know that they ‘walked with God’. We’ll explore what that means through various scripture and activities. We want to get to know God so well that He is our best friend!
Genesis tells us how our world began and how we began. It wasn’t a big bang. It was at the Word of our intelligent, Master Designer — God Almighty. He planned everything to live in perfect balance and beauty. But then….. that is the beginning of the rest of the story. The good news is that God also has a plan to return all things to their original perfect beauty and balance.
The following pages contain PowerPoint presentations telling the first stories of Genesis.
God is such an amazing Creator! Every aspect of His creation is intricate, well planned, and dependent on other aspects of His creation. These interactive presentations teach the days of creation found in Genesis 1.
On day 1 God made light, night and day. Kids will have fun learning about light by doing fun experiments. On day 2 God made the atmosphere and on day 3 He made land and plants. We’ll investigate types of plants and seeds and then plant some seeds.
On Day 4 God made the sun, moon and stars. We’ll do experiments and watch videos to learn about these. We’ll also take a look at how God named the stars and placed them into picture constellations which tell the gospel story of Jesus.
Jesus is coming again! Christ’s resurrection makes eternal life a possibility. Our acceptance of Jesus as our Savior and our cooperation with Him in obedience to God’s commands, makes eternal life a reality! Praise God!
These PowerPoint presentations share the Good News of eternal life and what the Bible tells us about Jesus’ second coming and heaven.
What will it be like before Jesus comes again? When He comes, what will we see and hear? We will look at what the Bible says and learn the answers to these questions. Along the way, we will color a picture, make trumpets and a crown.
