Jesus Celebrates the Passover

A graphic featuring a biblical scene of Jesus and his disciples sharing a meal, with text about redemption and instructions for a Passover celebration.

This presentation correlates Luke’s account of the Lord’s Supper with the Passover celebration. The children get to participate in the Passover with the foods. We hear of Jesus’ love and are reminded that He indeed is our Redeemer and Savior. He is the Messiah and invites us to join in His kingdom, so we look forward to the final fulfillment of the Passover when Jesus comes again. It is His blood that is on the door to our hearts. He is the Passover Lamb that died for our sin. He is coming to take us to Heaven, our Promised Land. It is because of Jesus’ sacrifice that we are truly free! He has redeemed us and, as we find in Revelation 22, will eventually recreate and restore our home on earth where we will live eternally, when it is time.

Companion Post: The Lord’s Supper

This lesson includes one or more of the Savior Souvenirs — a communion cup, a ‘cracker’ made of air dry clay, a ‘water basin’ which simply is a plastic lid like from a milk jug, or a towel which simply is a portion of a cut up cheap wash cloth.

The lesson is one of the many stories of Jesus’ last week before his death, resurrection, and the weeks that followed. You can find a list of the other lessons here along with their links.

The Lord’s Supper

A digital image showing two panels. The left panel features a depiction of Jesus at a table with twelve followers, highlighting a scene from Matthew 26 about faith and betrayal. The right panel presents Jesus speaking to his followers, with a message emphasizing faithfulness, referencing Zechariah 13:7.

This presentation shows the Lord’s Supper and acknowledges the weakness in Judas and Peter. We will follow their stories along with Jesus’ Faithfulness in the next few presentations. We see how much Jesus loves us. He is our strength. He is Faithful!

Jesus Teaches about Humility

Matthew 20:20-28, Luke 14:7-14

Illustration depicting a biblical scene with Jesus speaking to a mother and her two sons, set against a Middle Eastern backdrop.

James and John (or was it their mother) requested that they be able to sit on either side of Jesus in His kingdom. At a banquet, there was a similar problem. People were clamoring for the best seats. Jesus stated “For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” Humility is our focus. Our craft is the toy pictured. It’s OK if others praise us. When we are humble, Jesus lifts us up.

Jesus Teaches the Disciples

Jesus spent a lot of time teaching the 12 disciples. We are privileged to sit in on these private lessons and learn from our LORD and Savior.

Jesus Teaches How to Pray — The Lord’s Prayer — Luke 11:1-4

Our nature nugget in this lesson is the Emperor Penguin. The daddy penguin cares for the egg and the little chick, like God cares for us. God wants us to be near Him. He is listening to our call. He not only gives us our daily bread, but so much more, too! Jesus taught his disciples to pray and loves it when we pray also.

Jesus talks about FORGIVENESS — Matthew 18:21-35

In choosing to forgive, we are choosing to abandon our negative emotions associated with someone’s hurtful behavior. We choose to let God deal with them and celebrate his mercy towards each of us. In this presentation we look at the story of the unmerciful servant and why we should forgive and forgive s’more (Let’s make S’mores!) and forgive even 70 x 7 times! Have a backpack and cans ready along with S’more makings.
