Jesus Teaches the Disciples

Jesus spent a lot of time teaching the 12 disciples. We are privileged to sit in on these private lessons and learn from our LORD and Savior.

Jesus Teaches How to Pray — The Lord’s Prayer — Luke 11:1-4

Our nature nugget in this lesson is the Emperor Penguin. The daddy penguin cares for the egg and the little chick, like God cares for us. God wants us to be near Him. He is listening to our call. He not only gives us our daily bread, but so much more, too! Jesus taught his disciples to pray and loves it when we pray also.

Jesus talks about FORGIVENESS — Matthew 18:21-35

In choosing to forgive, we are choosing to abandon our negative emotions associated with someone’s hurtful behavior. We choose to let God deal with them and celebrate his mercy towards each of us. In this presentation we look at the story of the unmerciful servant and why we should forgive and forgive s’more (Let’s make S’mores!) and forgive even 70 x 7 times! Have a backpack and cans ready along with S’more makings.

Jesus teaches HUMILITY — Matthew 20:20-28, Luke 14:7-14

James and John (or was it their mother) requested that they be able to sit on either side of Jesus in His kingdom. At a banquet, there was a similar problem. People were clamoring for the best seats. Jesus stated “For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” Humility is our focus. Our craft is the toy pictured. It’s OK if others praise us. When we are humble, Jesus lifts us up.

Queen Esther

Although the book of Esther doesn’t mention God, we see how God’s people, the Jews live out their faith and how God hears their prayers and works out a way of salvation for them.

These interactive Bible story PowerPoint presentations teach lessons of true beauty, faithfulness, respect, and prayer.

Esther, crowned Queen — Esther 1-2

Esther was beautiful on the inside and out. It is God who make us beautiful on the inside. It is this beauty that He, our King, looks for and is please with. We talk about both. We caring for out outward appearance by looking in the mirror, combing our hair, cleaning our face, etc. The craft is to decorate a mirror on the back with stickers and the memory verse from 1 Peter 3:4. It is the Holy Spirit who shows us what we need to fix on the inside and it is God who helps that happen. He wants us to be respectful and kind.

Courageous Queen Esther saves her people — Esther 3-8

Courageous Queen Esther (short version with video and more activities) — Esther 3-8

Here’s a great story with kings and queens; villains and heroes; and a marvelously twisted plot. We can learn about when to tell on someone (to keep others from getting hurt), courage, and being in the right place at the right time.
