Here you'll find an array of activities for elementary children that can be used in Children's Ministry, after-school programs, in the classroom and by homeschoolers.
The following PowerPoint presentation is written as a game. It references the following pdf pages. I folded them in half with the pictures showing and the answers on the back. The kids had 15 seconds to grab an appropriate sheet to help them answer the questions that are on the PowerPoint. When they gave an answer, I sent them to quickly put a x or o on the tic-tac-toe game. As soon as a team won a tic-tac-toe game session, they received cookies and we started another session immediately. The speed and cookies, made it fun for the kids.
I have made the following PowerPoints which are a compilation of information, videos, and activities I have found on the web and others I have come up with. I like to use them as a backdrop for teaching the class or honor. As the instructor, I find it helpful to keep me on track and make sure that I cover all the information. It also fills in the gaps of things I’m not well versed on. I try to include activities in the presentation which we can do to add some fun and spice of life. I hope you find them useful too.
This honor presentation teaches the Pathfinders how to rescue themselves and others in many situations such as from a burning building, drowning, ice accident, and electrical accident. It goes over various types of lifts and ways to carry an injured person. Have fun practicing the different scenarios.
This is a longer presentation and is divided into the following topics for ease of presenting on different times as needed: Inner Beauty and Strength, Proper Social Behavior, Meal Etiquette, Health & Grooming, and Dress Your Best. There are videos, questions and answers, and suggested activities. Of course you don’t have to show all the videos, but they are there as needed. Have fun practicing great manners.
This presentation goes over all the requirements of the Star Honor and also gives some inspirational videos in regards to how the heavens declare the glories of God. What an awesome Creator we have! It is written in a quiz format. Many of the questions are basic information the Explorers probably already know. As pictured above, there are slides that show the night sky and challenge the kids to find the constellation, then with a click the lines are drawn depicting the constellation.
The Advanced Honor presentation uses pictures, descriptions, and videos to explain the concepts required in this advanced honor. The kids had fun learning new things. It also touches on the awesome reminders of God’s plan of salvation that are found in the constellations.
