Prophecies in the Old Testament foretold the coming of the Messiah. God had set a time for His ministry and sacrifice. Jesus ministry here on earth was drawing to close. After His baptism, he had led His disciples, preached and taught many lessons, healed many, and through His miracles showed that He was indeed the Messiah, the Son of God. Yet this was not the end of the mission.
Now He set his eyes on the cross. As written in John 10:18 Jesus said, “No one can take my life from me. I sacrifice it voluntarily. For I have the authority to lay it down when I want to and also to take it up again. For this is what my Father has commanded.” Jesus chose to pay the price for sin, He took our punishment, He died for us. Yet this was not the end of the mission.
Jesus rose again! He visited His disciples and they are witnesses to Jesus’ resurrection. Because He lives and conquered death, He gives us eternal life! Yet this was not the end of the mission.
Jesus promised, as written in John 14:2-3, “My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” We look forward to the end of the mission!

Jesus Prepares His Disciples and Prays — Matthew 26 and John 13-17

Before Jesus prayed in Gethsemane, He took time to prepare His disciples for what was about to happen. He assured them of His love and that they Holy Spirit would come to comfort and guide them. He told them He would prepare a place for them and come back to take them to be with Him. He also prayed for them and for all future believers – that includes us! In Gethsemane, Jesus prayed for God’s will to be done, and for strength. The object lesson in about doing God’s will. The craft is a special one. We made praying hand cast molds and then I finished them during the week.
Jesus Betrayed, Tried, Denied — Matthew 26, Luke 22, John 18

In this lesson, we reiterate the verse, “Watch and pray that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak.” Matthew 26:41. Oh how weak we are in times of difficulty! Yet Jesus is strong! He is faithful!
Jesus Dies for Us — Matthew 27, Luke 23, John 19

Jesus chose to come and take our punishment. The wages of sin is death. So Jesus died for us. It was His love for us, that held him to that cross. His death demonstrates how much He loves each one of us! In this presentation we focus on how Jesus thought of others throughout this hard day. He forgave the soldiers nailing him to the cross. He comforted John and His mom. He assured the thief who came to believe in Him that he too would have eternal life and be in heaven. We also see others who believed and helped Jesus: Simon, the Cyrene, the centurion soldier, Joseph of Arimathea, and Nicodemus.
