Paul’s Role in the First Church

Paul wrote many of the books in the New Testament. He wanted everyone to know that we do not earn salvation, it is a free gift from God. Salvation is for everyone no matter what their race or station in life. God loves and calls each one of us and offers us the gifts of forgiveness, new life, and eternal life. Life as a Christian may not be easy, but we have hope and peace. Paul’s life was not easy, but it is fascinating and his message is filled with hope. He traveled far and wide and started many churches of believers. Believers that believed that Jesus is the Son of God, our Savior, Lord, and King.

These presentations give the backdrop to tell the salvation story as you read and tell the story of Paul.

Saul’s Conversion

Saul was a devout follower of God, however he did not believe that Jesus was Messiah until Jesus himself appeared to him.

Jesus desires each of us to have His free gift of salvation. He pursues us. He woos us. He calls. Will we turn and listen? Will we accept his free gift?

Saul did. He was a changed man. He even changed his name to Paul. Now he wasn’t the persecutor, he was the persecuted. But God was with him. Much of the New Testament is written by Paul.

Here are couple Google slides presentations which I developed and used for our Sabbath School time on Zoom. I hope that you can use them in your ministry and that many more will accept God’s free gift of salvation.

Saul’s Conversion — Acts 9:1-19

Get a flashlight and a blindfold and play the part of Saul. He really did want to obey God. God showed him how he could do that best. Because Saul was blinded by the light, we take the opportunity to learn about Braille and try to decipher this interesting code. Also there’s some light experiment ideas.

Saul Begins to Preach — Acts 9:20-31

Saul the persecutor becomes Paul the preacher and persecuted. He first preaches to those in Damascus, but after awhile the Jews there want to kill him. The believers help him escape by letting him down in a basket. Paul goes to Jerusalem. There, too, he gets mixed reviews. Barnabas believes his story and helps others accept him. In this presentation, the kids get to build a city wall with Legos and make a paper basket to reenact the Bible story. The memory verse is Romans 1:16. Like Paul, we need not be ashamed of the gospel. Lord, help us to be brave and tell others of you.
