Paul’s 3rd Missionary Journey

Paul didn’t stay in Antioch long. In fact the account in Acts has the end of the second missionary journey and the beginning of the third all in one short paragraph. We focused a lot on Paul’s second missionary journey, but we’re only catching highlights from his third.

Paul Talks All Night in Troas — Acts 20

Paul talked all night long! It was warm. Eutychus fell asleep, fell down 3 stories, and died. But Paul held him and God brought Eutychus back to life! God gives us life! Paul went many places telling the Good News that Jesus saves us and gives us eternal life! In this presentation we talk about ways to be a missionary.

Titus and Onesimus learn Respect — 2 Cor. 2:12-13; Titus; Philemon

Paul wrote many letters. Some were to churches and some were to specific people. He wrote to Titus, one of his helpers. He encouraged Titus to teach others to respect one another. Being respectful is important. Paul’s letter to Philemon and the story of Onesimus also teaches us to be respectful.

Paul Shipwrecked on the way to Rome — Acts (21-26) 27 & 28

After talking about water safety and watching the introduction to our story on video, we turn to our interactive Bible story. Read Acts 28, build a ‘fire’ with sticks and tissue paper flames, pretend to be sick & well again, then make a boat and load up the supplies. There’s also an object lesson, craft (Jesus Saves), and fun songs!

Paul’s 2nd Missionary Journey

Let’s tell the stories of Paul’s second missionary journey. Each presentation has the story from the scripture along with pictures, songs, and interactive activities for the kids to do to participate in the story. There also may be crafts, mission projects, object lessons and more.

You will find the stories in Acts 16-18. Paul and Silas back to the churches that were formed on Paul’s first missionary Journey. Timothy joined them too. Some churches were strong and vibrant, but others had lost their first love and were not standing on the truth. We can learn much from Paul as he encouraged and taught the believers.

Like Paul, Silas, and Timothy, we too can be missionaries, no matter how old we are. “We are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which He has prepared for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10

Paul and Silas go back to Encourage the new Churches — Acts 15:36 – 16:5 and Timothy

What does it mean to strengthen or encourage others? A little team activity helps us learn. Pretend to ride a donkey or walk as we sing and ‘join’ Paul on his journey from town to town. At each ‘town’ we’ll stop and give each other and encouraging message. At the end we’ll make some encouraging notes to put on flowers and give to others at church or in our neighborhood. We also learn more about Timothy.

Encouraging Verse Cards

Paul, Silas, and Timothy Tell Lydia and others in Philippi about Jesus — Acts 16:6-15

In Paul’s travels, he asks God where to go next. God shows him in a dream to go to Macedonia. At one of the main cities, Philippi, they meet Lydia at a place of prayer by the river. She and others are baptized. We look at the letter Paul sent to them later — Philippians 4:4-9. We end this presentation by making shishkabobs (thanks to Lydia’s hospitality) and making purple tie dye shirts (because that was her job).

Paul & Silas Sing in Prison. Many Set Free! — Acts 16:16-40

Make some paper chains and get ready to act out Paul and Silas’ experience. They are not the only ones set free. A young lady and the jailer are freed from evil and their sins! God is the one who sets us free! Pray and praise Him. Rejoice always.

Paul Shares the Good News in Thessalonica and Berea — Read the Bible — Acts 17:1-15

Paul traveled to Thessalonica and Berea and preached the Good News that Jesus is our Savior! Those in Berea were noble. They read the scriptures and believed Paul. We want to read our Bibles too. The questions in the game are about the story for today and the Bible.

Paul Introduces Athens to the ‘Unknown God’ whom we Know — Acts 17:16-34

Paul travels to Athens. There he is amazed at how many idol gods are all around that the people worship. He finds a statue to the unknown god. He introduces the people to the one and only true God Almighty. He warns the people that there will be a day of judgement and that they will be safe if they choose to worship God and accept Jesus as their Savior. We take the opportunity to talk about warning signs and what we can do to be safe. We also recommit to worshiping God.

Paul works with Aquila and Priscilla — Working Together — Acts 18

In Corinth Paul meets Aquila and Priscilla. They are all tent makers so they work together to make tents. We’ll make tents too. When Timothy and Silas come, Paul works together with them again to tell more people about Jesus. God wants us to work together. We’ll build together and do a missionary project together.

Paul’s Role in the First Church

Paul wrote many of the books in the New Testament. He wanted everyone to know that we do not earn salvation, it is a free gift from God. Salvation is for everyone no matter what their race or station in life. God loves and calls each one of us and offers us the gifts of forgiveness, new life, and eternal life. Life as a Christian may not be easy, but we have hope and peace. Paul’s life was not easy, but it is fascinating and his message is filled with hope. He traveled far and wide and started many churches of believers. Believers that believed that Jesus is the Son of God, our Savior, Lord, and King.

These presentations give the backdrop to tell the salvation story as you read and tell the story of Paul.

Saul’s Conversion

Saul was a devout follower of God, however he did not believe that Jesus was Messiah until Jesus himself appeared to him.

Jesus desires each of us to have His free gift of salvation. He pursues us. He woos us. He calls. Will we turn and listen? Will we accept his free gift?

Saul did. He was a changed man. He even changed his name to Paul. Now he wasn’t the persecutor, he was the persecuted. But God was with him. Much of the New Testament is written by Paul.

Here are couple Google slides presentations which I developed and used for our Sabbath School time on Zoom. I hope that you can use them in your ministry and that many more will accept God’s free gift of salvation.

Saul’s Conversion — Acts 9:1-19

Get a flashlight and a blindfold and play the part of Saul. He really did want to obey God. God showed him how he could do that best. Because Saul was blinded by the light, we take the opportunity to learn about Braille and try to decipher this interesting code. Also there’s some light experiment ideas.

Saul Begins to Preach — Acts 9:20-31

Saul the persecutor becomes Paul the preacher and persecuted. He first preaches to those in Damascus, but after awhile the Jews there want to kill him. The believers help him escape by letting him down in a basket. Paul goes to Jerusalem. There, too, he gets mixed reviews. Barnabas believes his story and helps others accept him. In this presentation, the kids get to build a city wall with Legos and make a paper basket to reenact the Bible story. The memory verse is Romans 1:16. Like Paul, we need not be ashamed of the gospel. Lord, help us to be brave and tell others of you.
