Prophet Elisha

Elisha was a mighty man for God. God worked through him to show how much He cares for us! God is our Healer, our Provider, our Protector, and our Friend.

I use these PowerPoint presentation as a backdrop for telling the Bible stories to children in our Sabbath School. The presentation include the Bible text, pictures, songs, and suggestions for activities. I hope you enjoy them.

Prophet Elisha and the Company of Prophets — 2 Kings 2, 4, and 6

In this presentation there are four short stories about how God provided for the company of prophets through Elisha. We can trust our faithful God that He cares for us too! The stories include Healing the Water with Salt, Debts Paid by a Miraculous Pour of Oil, Feeding 100 With 20 Loaves, and The Axe head that Floated. During the stories the kids can use play dough to illustrate the stories by making things like a bowl, (oil) jug, bread, a tree, and an axe. We’ll sing praises to God. The craft is a raised salt message, God cares for you,

Elisha, the Women of Shunem, and Generosity — 2 Kings 4:8-37

The Woman of Shunem and the LORD GOD are pictures of generosity at it’s finest. Blessings were not asked for, but were freely given. That is how much God loves and cares for us!

Captain Naaman, Healed of Leprosy — 2 Kings 5

Sin, like leprosy, makes us unclean and separates us from the One we love, God. Naaman had leprosy, but his wife’s servant girl knew who to turn to. It is Jesus who can save us! She told him to go to prophet Elisha. He did and humbled himself to do what Elisha said to do and he was cleansed. Naaman chose to worship God. In this presentation, have fun acting out parts of the story, coloring, singing, and doing a craft.

Elisha and the Lord’s Army — 2 Kings 6:8-23

This story is full of surprises and intrigue! God protects His people again and again by warning them of attacks and by surrounding them with protective army — the Army of the Lord. But when it comes right down to it, how does God fight? He fights hate, with love; greed with generosity; fear with faith. The blinded army are led to the capitol, but they aren’t killed, they are given a feast! They walk away and there is peace! At the end of the presentation, we have the opportunity to do some roll plays and try to figure out how to respond God’s way with love, generosity, and faith. The craft is to make a chariot:

Revelation of Jesus

God gave John revelations of Jesus and what their plan was for the future. We can find hope and peace in that God has a plan and is in charge; that Jesus is our Savior; that they are conquering evil; and that they will make all things new. 1 John 2:28 says ” And now, little children, abide in Him, that when He appears, we may have confidence and not be ashamed before Him at His coming.” We abide with Jesus by staying connected to Him through seeking Jesus in prayer, Bible study, and through the work of the Holy Spirit.

Messages to the Churches — Revelations 1-3

This PowerPoint presentation gives the backdrop to teach the message of the letters to the churches found in Revelations 1-3. Jesus is here in the midst of His church. He sees us. He knows us. He encourages us on our walk to be ever more like Him – honoring God, loving others, and hating wickedness. We are His workmanship. It is by God’s power and His Holy Spirit within us that we become like Him. He is coming and will reward us.

God Wins! — Revelations 4-19

John sees many visions that demonstrate that God has a plan and will conquer evil. We just touch on a few as we learn that GOD WINS! Jesus conquers evil with His love and the Holy Spirit, which draw us to His side. That is what He really wants — He wants our friendship and love. He wants it so much that He was willing to die for us. He wants us and loves us so much that He will fight that which separates us — sin and evil. By the end He has proved how terrible the devil and evil really are. Then He casts them into the fire where they are gone forever! Peace and perfection will be restored. The craft is to make a white horse on a cardboard stick. We can ride like we are in the Lord’s army. We also touch on and are reminded that we can put on God’s armor to protect us from the evil one. We are protected by God’s truth, His gift of salvation, His righteousness, and faith in Him as our shield. We go forth with our feet prepared to tell others the Good News.

Jesus comes and makes all things new — Revelations 21-22

Jesus and all of heaven are anxiously waiting for the day when Jesus comes to take us home. We too are looking forward to when we can live with our Friend and Savior, Jesus Christ! He is preparing a place for us. We will see it in heaven and then there will be a time when God brings that special city, the New Jerusalem to earth and we will live with Jesus here forever! John tells us what he saw in Revelations 21-22. In this presentation we take a look at these visions. We’ll make a model of the New Jerusalem, complete with the 12 foundations, tree of life, and get creative with other additions. Of course Jesus will be there! Jesus ends by announcing again: “I am coming soon!”
